Important note: Daraja Microfinance Bank and Umba Bank are effectively the same licensed entity today. US-based fintech Umba Inc. acquired a 66.06% majority shareholding in Daraja Microfinance Bank in July 2022, and now operates its Kenyan banking business through the Daraja licence under the Umba brand. Because of this, both names route to essentially the same head office, contacts, and services — they are treated jointly with Umba in this article and cross-referenced in Section 5 below.
