Popular Parquet Patterns
Our parquet floor installation team executes a full range of traditional and contemporary patterns:
- Herringbone — The most classic pattern, with blocks laid at 45 or 90 degrees in a zigzag formation
- Basket weave — Groups of parallel blocks alternating at right angles to create a woven appearance
- Brick bond — Simple staggered layout, timeless and versatile
- Chevron — Similar to herringbone but with angled cuts creating a continuous V-shape
- Versailles panel — Square panels with intricate internal patterns, used in formal rooms
- Random plank — Mixed width planks for a rustic, natural appearance
Our Parquet Floor Installation Process
- Subfloor assessment — Concrete or timber subfloor is checked for levelness, moisture content, and structural adequacy.
- Subfloor preparation — Grinding, levelling, and damp-proof membrane application as required.
- Acclimatisation — Timber is stored on site for 48–72 hours to acclimatise to the ambient humidity.
- Layout planning — The pattern is set out from a centre point or feature wall to ensure symmetry.
- Adhesive application and block laying — Blocks are bonded to the subfloor with a flexible flooring adhesive in the specified pattern.
- Sanding — The installed floor is sanded with belt and orbital sanders, progressively through coarse, medium, and fine grits.
- Staining (if required) — Wood stains are applied to achieve the desired colour tone.
- Sealing and finishing — Hard wax oil, polyurethane lacquer, or natural oil finishes are applied in multiple coats.
Maintenance of Parquet Floors
A professionally installed floor with proper parquet floor installation techniques can last for generations. We advise:
- Regular sweeping and damp mopping with wood-compatible cleaners
- Felt pads under furniture legs
- Periodic re-oiling or re-lacquering depending on the finish used
- Re-sanding and refinishing every 10–15 years as needed
Our parquet floor installation team also provides restoration services for existing worn or damaged timber floors.
